DRUG ARREST

On Thursday, September 15, 2011, deputies with the George County Sheriff’s Department conducted a safety checkpoint at the intersection of Barton Agricola Road and Beasley Road in the Barton Community that led to the arrest of Harold M. Whiteman (41) of Purvis, Mississippi. A search of the 1997 Ford Explorer revealed a baggie containing methamphetamine. Whiteman was transported to the George County Regional Jail for possession of methamphetamine where he was later issued a $2,500.00 commercial bond by Justice Court Judge Norman C. Howell.

On Thursday, September 15, 2011, agents with the George County Sheriff’s Department Narcotics Division attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a 1989 Dodge Dakota in the Benndale Community on Hwy 57 South. As agents initiated blue lights the vehicle began to flee. During that time the driver threw numerous amounts of tablets from the vehicle window that was later determined to be pseudoephedrine. After a short chase the vehicle stopped near the intersection of West Wilkerson Ferry Rd and Hwy 57 South. A search of the vehicle revealed several precursor chemicals and materials used for manufacturing methamphetamine. Agents also recovered several pseudoephedrine tablets from the roadside. The driver, Joseph D. Fairley (45) of George County, was arrested for possession of precursor chemicals with intent to manufacture methamphetamine and failure to yield to blue lights. Fairley was transported to George County Regional Jail.

On Saturday, September 17, 2011, deputies with the George County Sheriff’s Department conducted a safety checkpoint at the intersection of Hwy 612 and Walt Tanner Road in the Howell Community that led to the arrest of Christopher C. Cauley (35) of George County. A search of the 2006 Ford pickup revealed two baggies containing methamphetamine. Cauley was transported to the George County Regional Jail for possession of methamphetamine where he was later issued a $5,000.00 commercial bond by Justice Court Judge M.L. Goff.
