George County, MS – Sheriff Dean Howell says in an effort capture the dead-beat dads and mothers of George County, the sheriff’s office will be issuing press releases each time a bench warrant is issued in chancery court. The citizens of George County and surrounding areas were instrumental in Jerry Miniard, who owes nearly $100,000 in back child support, turning himself in to the sheriff’s office within days of his photo being circulated.
According to Sheriff Howell, those who have children should be providing for them and paying their child support. When these three individuals did not show up for court Wednesday, April 10, bench warrants were issued for their arrests.
The following three individuals will be arrested and jailed when caught.
Kassie Michelle Baxter, 29, of Highway 26 West in Lucedale, is sister of Christopher Baxter, convicted last fall for the murder of George County Sheriff Garry Welford. Kassie Baxter has a purge amount set at $2,200.00. Once arrested, Baxter will be required to pay this amount in order to be released from jail. A purge amount is a percentage of the entire sum owed by an individual and does not mean they are not responsible for paying the entire amount owed. The judge sets this purge amount.
Gordon David Chang, 27, who lists a Lucedale post office box as an address, has a purge amount of $3,500.00 that must be paid to be released from jail. And Marc Adrian Wilner, 27, of Park Lane in George County has a purge amount set at $2,500.
Sheriff Howell asks that anyone with information leading to the ARREST of these individuals please call Crime Stoppers at 1-877-787-5898. These calls are completely anonymous and these tips are paid cash to the tipster. Or call the George County Sheriff’s office at 601 947-4811.
